Stainless Steel 18.8 Bolts

18.8 (A2) STAINLESS STEEL HEX HEAD CAP SCREWS are the most common commercial grade of corrosion resistant fastener used in industrial applications, including food plants.

The 18.8 designation refers to the approximate content of chromium (18%) and nickel (8%) alloy contained within the product. Although highly corrosion resistant, due to some carbon content, 18.8 fasteners can exhibit signs of red rust in extremely corrosive environments, they are also slightly magnetic and have a strength value less than a Grade 5 bolt. For improved corrosion resistance, less magnetic presence and higher strength, consider upgrading to Type 316 (A4).

Stainless Steel Grade 18.8 bolts are usually identified with one of the following markers on the top of the head: 18.8, 302, 303, 304, A2 or XM7.
