Metric 8.8 Bolts
METRIC 8.8 HEX HEAD CAP SCREWS are typically manufactured from medium carbon steel, quenched and tempered for strength, zinc plated for rust & corrosion protection. They have a minimum tensile strength of 640 MPa (M5 to M16) and generally agreed to be the equivalent to Imperial Grade 5 bolts. Length is measured from under the head.
8.8 bolts are identified with "8.8" marking on the head. Coarse threads are most common: M3-0.5, M4-0.7, M5-0.8, M6-1.0, M8-1.25, M10-1.5, M12-1.75, M14-2.0, M16-2.0, M18-2.5, M20-2.5, M22-2.5, M24-3.0, M30-3.5 & M36-4.0. The number following the diameter, ie: M8-1.25 refers to the number of threads per millimeter of pitch/climb on the fastener.
