Extractors
Extractors are useful tools for removing broken screws, bolts, studs, threaded parts and pipe. Two styles available, Spiral Flute and Square Taper, manufactured from heat tempered Hi-Carbon Steel allowing maximum ductility and less breakage.
Spiral Flute (top image) extractors are the most common. Simply drill a pilot hole into the end of the broken part (for best results use a Left Hand Reverse Cut Drill Bit), insert, turn in a counterclockwise direction using a wrench on the exposed end of the extractor.
Square Taper (bottom image) extractors provide the ability to remove fasteners/pipe with minimal deformation and expansion of the broken part. Using the same method as the Spiral Flute, gently tap the extractor into the pilot hole and twist out the broken part.
