Pails offer advantages over "bagged" ice melt. Ripped or perforated bags have diminshed effectiveness; moisture absorption turns ice melt into a wet slurry or hardens rendering the product unusable. Pails with resealable lids are easier to handle and carry where needed. Shelf life is increased, unused or "warm winter" product is ready for that unexpected spring cold snap or next season use.
